WM Fraser has a strong and direct relationship with our potato growers in England who are based down in Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. All of our growers plant certified seed so they can grow consistently healthy and quality potatoes all year round.
We use English potatoes because they give the chip shops a much better fry in terms of colour. English chipping potatoes are an all round better frying potato due to the fertile and silt ground in the Fens which have a much better climate with more sunlight hours than Scotland. This all affects the frying colour of the chip, the paler the better!
The potatoes are planted, harvested, graded and then bagged before arriving at WM Fraser to then be distributed to our customers.
During the summer when the English potatoes are finished for the season, we use Spanish Agria to supplement orders. This is only for a few weeks until the new English crop of potatoes is harvested.
